Sierra Meszaros, NFTY CWR Regional Advisor
Sierra is excited to join the NFTY CWR and Camp Newman Family, as the NFTY CWR Regional Advisor. Sierra is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, where she grew up as a member of BATY at Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills, but in recent years has come to call the small Northern Nevada town of Genoa her new home town. Sierra is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, where she was recognized for her success in the social sciences.
Sierra has long had a passion for the Jewish community which has manifested itself in various ways over the years, beginning as a TYG member, later becoming a youth educator, and TYG advisor. She has been fortunate to see first-hand the power of the NFTY community, watching teens flourish in a community where they feel seen and heard, challenged yet inspired. She is beyond grateful for the opportunity to work with a team of impassioned magic makers and educators to continue to motivate and inspire this incredible group of young people to be role models for their families, communities, and most importantly each other.
Samara Leader, Director of Teen Engagement, URJ Camp Newman
Samara is in her seventh year as the regional staff member for NFTY CWR. She is passionate about making NFTY CWR a place where everyone feels welcome, from first-time NFTYites to seasoned veterans. She greatly enjoys her role mentoring the regional board to create an inclusive environment in NFTY CWR, and outside of events she strives to meet with youth professionals and clergy, and chat with participants to learn how to strengthen the region. During the summer, you'll find her at URJ Camp Newman, and she is looking forward to directing the CIT program in 2017 (her 18th summer at Camp Newman overall). Samara graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from UCLA and earned a Certificate in Jewish Education Specializing in Adolescents and Emerging Adults from Hebrew Union College. In her free time, Samara enjoys traveling, exercise and playing sports, live music and theater, reading, spending time with friends, and playing with her coworkers' dogs.
