Dear NFTY CWR Families,
At the URJ, NFTY’s parent organization, our chief concern is for the safety, health, and well-being of the participants and staff of our programs. As such, as part of our normal due diligence, we continue to closely monitor the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), and our leaders are in close communication with leading public health officials and medical authorities, both locally and globally.
Based on their recommendations, and in keeping with decisions made by organizations similar to ours, we’re writing today with an important update amid this rapidly evolving situation.
NFTY CWR’s Gesher Kallah, along with NFTY Nashir (both scheduled to take place April 24-26th at YMCA Camp Jones Gulch) will no longer be held. These events have been cancelled.
We imagine that this is hard news to receive, especially during these ever evolving and challenging times. Please know that your NFTY CWR community is here for you, even though we are unable to be physically together, and plan to offer many virtual gathering opportunities over the next few weeks. We hope you’ll join us this weekend for all of our virtual Spring Conclave offerings, including our elections process!
We also know that many of you have administrative and programmatic questions on your mind. Please understand that the staff of the URJ is working remotely—and that it may take us some time to address these questions. The URJ staff is working around the clock to make decisions, find answers, and chart new courses of action that will allow us to continue creating the transformative connections that are at the core of our Reform Jewish movement. We are deeply grateful for your continued patience amid these exceptional and unexpected circumstances.
We will continue to communicate updated information and virtual opportunities to you in the days and weeks to come. In the meantime, please continue to check our website as well as URJ.org and ReformJudaism.org, for resource-sharing and for information about virtual experiences during this time of physical distance. Again, we hope to ‘see’ you this weekend for some virtual fun with the NFTY CWR community!
Together, we pray for a full recovery of those who are sick and for a swift end to the spread of the virus.
