NFTY-CWR Goes to Winter Kallah

January 18-21, 2019

NFTY CWR & NFTY SOCAL are excited to present Winter Kallah at Camp JCA Shalom in Malibu, CA. Join us as we bring together NFTY CA, for the first time, in celebration of the power of community. The weekend will be filled to brim with NFTY fun!

Friday night programming will be hosted in collaboration with the NFTY SOCAL & NFTY CWR regional boards, along with teen leaders from both regions. On Saturday, NFTY CA, in partnership with URJ Camp Newman, URJ Sci-Tech West, URJ Sports West, and the Jewish Center for Justice will participate in the Los Angeles Women's March. Jewish Center for Justice will partner with teens to lead Women’s March prep on Friday evening, which may include but is not limited to poster making, and the historical and political context of the march. Saturday will culminate with participation in the Los Angeles Women’s March, free time upon arrival back to JCA Shalom, and Saturday night’s “Little FUN”. Sunday will be a full day of social and educational NFTY programming, ending in “BIG FUN.” Teens will depart from JCA Shalom on Monday, following closing circle.

This event is open to any Jewish teen in grades 9 to 12.

  • Registration is hosted by URJ Camp Newman. If you have attended a previous NFTY event or summer program at Camp Newman, you already have an account in our system. For information on how to register, click here.
  • Teens are expected to participate in the entire event. Fees are set at a full package rate and we cannot prorate registration.
  • A limited number of scholarship discounts are available for this event.

Travel Information

If you are flying to the event, please plan to arrive and depart from Burbank Bob Hope Airport:

  • Friday Arrival between 11am-2pm (1/18)
    • All flights land by 2pm
    • Bus departs Airport at 2:30
  • Monday Departure (1/21) : All flights depart after 1:30pm

In addition, Bus transportation is provided from various locations in the Southern California region. These times are tentative, updated bus stops, and times will be shared as soon as possible. Buses must have 12 or more participants to run.

Participants may not drive themselves to or from the event or NFTY provided transportation. If traveling by car, the driver must be a parent or guardian over the age of 21.

Discounts & Scholarships

Earlybird registration- Save an additional $50 when you register during the flash sale, or between December 9-30th!

Fly Discount- ALL participants flying to the event automatically save $100 on the event.

Scholarships- We make every effort to ensure that no teen will miss an event due to financial restraints. We now have more scholarships available than ever before. The scholarship application may be found here!

*Please note, discounts and scholarships are manually added, and will not show when you register for the event. You're credit card will not automatically be charged, and will be charged manually with the relevant discounts and scholarships added.

NFTY recognizes that our participants may need to cancel after registering for an event. We have created a policy for refunds that considers our financial obligations for the event and our desire to refund as much of the registration fees paid as possible. All cancellations must be sent to the NFTY CWR staff via email by one of the Parent/Guardians listed during registration. We will not accept cancellations from TYG advisors or participants directly. Refunds are sent approximately six weeks after the conclusion of the event.

If you need to cancel, the registration fees you paid will be refunded as follows:

  • 90% Refund of fees paid by December 16th
  • 75% Refund of fees paid by December 30th
  • 50% Refund of fees paid by January 6th

75% of fees paid will be refunded if there is a documented medical emergency.

Sleeping bag, pillow, fitted sheet, toiletries, layers and warm clothes (in case of weather), and good walking shoes. A more detailed packing list will be provided in the pre-event email, and online as soon as possible.
